Media of today

I see that these days have changed with how the media is able to persuade the viewers of today. I find it odd that people sometimes find there daily bit of news not from FOX or ABC but from tv shows like the Daily show or the Colbert Report. The types of news that I see more often than not is someone is lost or has been killed, yes it's sad but what of the good that happened? I wish to see everything that has happened; good or bad so long as I am imformed.

From what I've Seen.

Over the past few weeks I have seeing the people to which Obama is appointing to be in his cabinet. It seems as though he's choosing those who have worked well in the past from previous presidencies that were successful in their respective departments. Also I saw that he is looking towards his rival for the democratic vote Mrs. Clinton as part of his team. I don't know how well this will work considering that some of the people chosen have different points of views on matters.

Well it's been a while since I last blogged and I thought that while watching the Colbert Report that I would voice my opinion on what's going on in the world of comedic news. I'm finding more enjoyable to watch comedy news then the FOX new network because they do nothing but make drama, drama, and let's not forget more drama. Whenever I turn on the news I always see no matter what's going on in the world that there is fear; a fear that I personally don't need to have thrown in my face. Most of this is about the Democratic President elect Obama and how people are afraid of what he will or will not do. Also how he may taking away the 2nd amendment rights of the people, right to bear arms. I personally think that having a gun is something that people should have the choice to have but whether or they take advantage is his or her own business. I feel as though that without the frantic news media putting down the president elect before he even gets a chance to start his presidency is something that people do but shouldn't because we don't know what he could do. That is probably why there is so much "fear" is because we don't know what he will do. And with that I say why should we have the right to put down a person when in fact nobody knows what will happen.

Daily Show 9-28-08

From watching tonights Daily show At 11:00 p.m. I couldn't stop laughing at the fact that John Stewart is able to get both sides,Democratic and Republican, and make them both seem as though they lost.
Also the thoughts From Rob Riggle couldn't have been more true because I think that's what a lot of people were thinking but he put it more poetically and still kept a straight face throughout most of his little rant.
The portion where the elderly people voiced his or her opinion brought me to realize that a lot people are thinking that McCain is too old to be in office and that both candidates have something about them that they didn't like.
As comedic as the daily show is, I think that it is able to make serious issues more interesting than they would have been if they had watched the regular news. Although the news is one of the better ways to find out new information it can be biased where as the Daily show has an unbiased opinion in my mind because it mocks both sides with what either party says.

The book described ways of asking questions to find more in depth questions about a topic that may be assigned. It also told of how to write to three areas, family, work, and research. The topics differ in the way that the audience is and the overall tone of the paper. The words Rhetoric was gone over a few times and went into depth on how language may be effective.

I think that the most useful tool will be the opinions of others when they read my papers or blogs and the feedback. This is because with the help of others not only will my paper be better but also my communication skills will be better as well. I think that the communication skill I need to improve is by finding more common grounds with others and developing a better overall plot to a story or paper. The main assignments are the I-search paper and the class portfolio due at the end of the semester. The I-search paper for the election will probably be the most interesting to me because earlier today the Democratic Convention had announced that Obama Will be the person who has the main support for the Democratic vote. The writing to solve problems seems to be least appealing because it seems as though there may be many situations that have different answers that will be considered correct if they are supported correctly. The one thing that I think I will be more prepared for is the end of the semester portfolio. I think that I learned from my mistakes or at least the weak points in my portfolio from the Summer Institute. The best thing for me to do to get all the assignments done to my preference is to figure out more time to work on them. This leads me to that there won’t be any excuses for any late work and it will not be excepted unless I bring up the fact that I won’t be there for class and make arrangements with Morgan otherwise. When it comes to the attendance policy I hope I don’t have to miss a class because the 50 point deduction each day I’m absent may kill my grade if I get sick or my job forces me to leave for the day.
Your office ours are from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and I think that I’ll be coming in as soon as we start are first major writing assignment. This is because I will need help trying to connect with the audience and may not know how to in a situation given. As a teacher I think your responsibility is to make the directions as clear as you can and to answer the questions we have without making more confusing because in the past I have had teachers who had taken my question and then asked me a question way off from my topic and then walked away. As a student I should ask about things that I am confused about without disrupting the class. From the syllabus I hope to learn how to better connect with my peers on subjects that split people apart. I think that I’ll be able to contribute an honest opinion that will help people make their works better. The feedback I get from my peers will be the most helpful this semester.
I can see how this semester will go but I don’t know as to what writing to explore, evaluate, and solving problems are. No suggestion as to improve the syllabus because I know that those things will be talked about in class. I don’t think that there is anything that scares me but I think I will enjoy the writing to explore paper. I say this because I am very imaginative and I think a paper that has to do with a lot thinking will be good area for me. I’m a procrastinator so I wait until the last minute, including this, and the best thing for me to do is to focus.
